DUNEDIN a City by the Gulf.

DUNEDIN

Dunedin is a city close to Florida´s Gulf waters boasting one of the most touted beaches in our country. It maintains a small town atmosphere with noteworthy shops, restaurants wit a mix of older and newer residential areas. It also has a wonderful 18 hole golf course at the Dunedin Country Club with homes and a condo building plus a par 3 golf course adjacent.

 Honeymoon Island

It is well known for its rather relaxed lifestyle attracting visitors and residents from all over the globe. "Dunedin reflects the rich American and Scottish heritage of its founding fathers. This charming village-like town has the distinction of being the oldest town south of Cedar Key. Early in its history, thanks to a dock built to accommodate schooners and sloops and the ingenuity of pioneers from as near as Georgia and as far away as Scotland., Dunedin became one of Florida´s chief seaport and trading centers. At one time Dunedin had the largest fleet of dialing vessels in Florida. Early settlers were primarily cotton and citrus growers, and it is hard to envision that most of what is now downtown was once a big cotton field"

What I like most about it is the fact that I can stay within easy distance of my home here and find fine dining, a quick lunch, a good hamburger , shops featuring such unique items, art and folksy things, antiques..what ever suits your fancy. There is a large and  lovely community center now under construction replacing an older center ..a dog park, a renowned art center, the Pinellas Trail not to mention stores for groceries, banks, state park and Honeymoon Island beach area, a ferry that takes one out to Caladeisi Island for a day or a few hours of sun and fun (like going over to the Bahamas for a day ) So much , so close by. Not only does it offer all of this plus a marina, but a dog beach ..for pet lovers isn´t that a wonderful thing? Also the dog park....and now they are asking for volunteers to help organize pet programs for the coming year. So dog lovers here is your chance to give back to our faithful companions.

A day in Dunedin could consist of so many activities that it is impossible to list them all.
Maybe you would start out with breakfast at Kellys, downtown. A sail from Dunedin's marina or a round of golf at the Country Club...18 holes of fabulous challenge. OR maybe a quiet , restful afternoon at the beach. OR....window shopping at the quaint shops downtown.

Main Street where shopping and fine dining commence!

Don't forget for a bit later on...the new Community Center that is now well under way which will serve us all so well with its lessons, activities, socials and much more. I also hear that the Art Center which is so well known all over the state is going to have another expansion!

OR.................. maybe a round of golf!

Fairway at The Dunedin Country Club course.

Also there is now wireless access to the internet for many residents of our city , just a new service recently installed.

Almost every week there is some special event scheduled in the town such as Craft Fairs, Art
Shows, Antique Fairs, Scottish Games, Holiday Events, etc. Did you know that Santa arrives in Dunedin by boat?

No matter what your preference you will find it here in this wonderful place to live.
